  • Boxwoods

    Boxwoods. I tell you, these aren't the prettiest shrub out there, but they do really well in my area - and these tiny little things have grown to the point where they're almost a hedge running along the driveway.

    Here's another before picture. There's multiple issues here: the turf was really mangy, the shrubs that were in this spot were really overgrown, and the grade of the soil was such that rain didn't drain away properly.

    Here's an after picture. I decided to turn the whole area into a planting bed. The shrubs closest to the house needed to grow in a little before they blocked the view of the gas meter.   • BrotherJoe's landscape project: Before #1.

    This is the front of my house before the project began. Actually I had already ripped the overgrown taxus on that side out. Doing so exposed the gas meter, so hiding that became a priority.
