    Springhill Nurseries

    Hi!

I was wondering if anyone has bought from Springhill Nurseries before. They have some pretty cool "garden kits" that are put together for you, based on the location you need to fill (sun/shade/foundation/etc.). It takes a bit of the creativity out of the process, but it seems like a good deal.

I'm asking for feedback, though it's a bit late because I've already ordered from them...

Hi ~ I have ordered many plants from Springhill over the years and have been very satisfied with them. I received my first catalog shortly after we bought our home in 1978. The two shade trees that I got way back when now shade our three-story house very nicely! The perennials and shrubs have also thrived. Every plant was carefully packed and shipped at the proper planting time for our area. You won't be disappointed with Springhill...and don't miss their one-cent sale... it's a great way to add to your plant collection! Ginnie

Here's my take, one year after I ordered from them: you have to be ready to actually do some gardening. The plants all appear to be fairly healthy, but many of them are extremely small and take a little coddling to get them to thrive. Personally, I prefer this over just going to the garden center and buying large established plants. It's more of a challenge when they are so tiny.

After work yesterday I was looking at all the perennials I put in last year. Most of them are doing well. A few didn't make it through the drought last year - but a few of them are growing like gangbusters. The Jacob Cline Monarda especially. I have to get some photos this evening...
