I'm not an expert on spores, molds, or fungus, but I thought snow mold was more of an aesthetic problem that corrected itself once the grass dried out in the spring. My understanding is that you can avoid it for the most part by continuing to mow your grass as long as it's growing in the fall, and making the last cut a bit shorter than usual. I also think that if you leave leaves (ha!) on the grass that you'll end up with more mold issues in the spring. That pretty much exhausts my knowledge on this topic though.....
